Here are the live results from this year’s Timberline Trail Survey. As the hiking season starts off the results will be few and additional survey responses can swing the results dramatically.

Every campsite was crowded with people looking for tent space
Don't go up/down the scree hill into Eliot as a group, go ONE AT A TIME. Disaster waiting to happen from what I've witnessed.
If running in a day, CCW is the way to go!
There was no permit box east of Timberline Lodge, which is how we started. Also, when we arrived at our campsite at Newton Creek, the fire pit was still hot from the last camper’s fire. Also, microspikes helped a lot on the snow fields on the east side of the mountain.
Great trail
Loved it!
Scramble at Elliot is hairy when you have a phobia of falling
River crossings were much harder this year than when I did it 5 years ago. The scramble at Eliot was very sketchy! The detour could be better marked (going ccw, the tree the detour sign is posted on is confusing for determining which trail to follow and the sign to turn left onto the pct after Ramona falls was easy to miss!).
Downed logs could be removed. Bridges for safety.
We stopped at cloud cap. My friend was not comfortable with the scramble out of Eliot. The snow was easy for me, but my friend was scared so I dug out steps for her with my trowel.
Unleashed dogs are becoming a real problem
Have learned to carry out my to.
It was really hard but very enjoyable. Beautiful.
As the trail Becomes more crowded camping sites are tougher to find… Especially at the popular locations.
No additional fees! It's getting old, fast.
Wild flowers were beautiful.
River crossings aren’t for the faint heart
Trail cloud have been better maintained
beautiful
I'm not as young as I used to be . . .
Wonderful trip for my 13 year old son and me. Great trip and amazing views.
There should be warning signs to avoid dangerous/ deadly paths down to Eliot. I almost died along with my 12 year old son.
Water shoes or trail sandals for the water crossings
Consciously planned to do 1/2 & 1/2, but elliot crossing was an issue, so we did 1/2, 1/4 & 1/4. Ended up doing every step of the way, but took 3 summers.
Cowboy camped (no tent or hammock, just sleeping bag)
No
NPS should update their map for Ramona bypass
Better signage, river names would be nice. Took 2 wrong turns. Not sure if I answered the river crossing questions correctly. Zigzag, newton and Elliot are the only ones i knew the names of when crossed. Relied on looking for other hikers to find trail on other side of many rivers
Make this trail a permitted trail before it gets loved to death
Wildflowers and various views were amazing! Crossed all major streams before 12
Camping next to water was at designated sites
Wish we would have done 3 nights/ 4 days to enjoy it a bit more…. Felt rushed and would have preferred to camp in different areas but couldn’t die to time/ mile constraints. Met some great people and had an amazing time tho!
Fantastic loop.
Beautiful trail - challenging for sure
Great trail
Amazing trail!!! Beautiful and challenging and fun.
Dust and sun exposure were my biggest issues.
I can’t remember which water crossing was which but coe was the most difficult. I had to take shoes off and wade 2 or 3 of them.
Took our time but felt my age. Packed too much food.
Timberline was the middle 3rd of an extended single-push adventure for me. The Timberline portion was mostly at night which was very interesting.
Newton crossing detour was marked, but unfortunately some tents were on the detour and it was a little hard to pick out the detour in the dark without disturbing campers.
Trekking poles were life savers - if doing CCW, the last day will be a killer in terms of eval gain.
This was a fantastic trail, and not as crowded as I thought it would be over the holiday weekend. I'm a pretty experienced hiker/mountaineer, but I did see a lot of newbies on the trail and they could use some trail etiquette advice, especially during the crossings where some folks just kicked rocks on top of each other and scrambled on top of others. I thought for sure that I was going to witness an accident, which (thank god) didn't happen.
Loved every second of it! Moved faster than expected going CW - descent to Ramona went much faster than planned.
Beautiful trail with amazing signage and trail markings (especially the cairns around river crossings). The hardest part was getting both down and back up put of Elliot. The crossing itself was no big deal!
It's okay to get your feet wet. Trying to rock hop can cause more problems, so people need to know it's okay to get your feet wet.
I love this trail.
Highlights were the incredible visibility, a smoke-free view is really something. I also love the changing views of the mountains, flora and fauna, and trail.
Tips? Be prepared--know your gear. Be fit and ready for long days if necessary. And, relax and enjoy the wonderment of nature.

Lastly, I am not sure how responsible it is to take dogs as it is a difficult trail for humans with inherent risks. I wondered how it was for the dogs I saw out there in the sand and wind storm.
Navigation was sometimes difficult coming out of water crossings. Plenty of water sources available
Needs Signage hikers going ccw can see to turn left to Sandy River crossing. We over shot and headed down to Ramona parking by mistake which added time and exhaustion as we were just hiking 2 days.
Blowdown sections take more time than expected

No place to unload your trash. Put trash bin at cloud cap.
Would hike this trail again if I knew Elliot and Coe would have had log bridges. That was the worst part of our trip. Very scary, sketchy wades. And Elliot is badly in need of a trail reroute the wash was also really dangerous.
It was all incredible
Water crossings were challenging for someone 5ft
Always an amazing trek!
Loved it.
Saw many people knocking rocks on there own parties and others on West side of Elliot Creek crossing. One being a very close call.
It was an amazing experience. I am definitely a newer hiker. We didn't have all the proper gear. Example used a day pack and tied on our sleeping bag to outside. We learned so much, got off trail once. Easily able to find our way back.
Wonderful helpful people on trail - many willing to help with crossings for safe fording or guidance on where to cross. Facebook group is absolutely invaluable too.
Lovely trail. Signage could be better in places. Coe and Elliot crossings are only thing keeping me from wanting to return.
It was harder than expected. Packs were just too heavy with the bear canisters.
The trail was basically all sand which is not really talked about in this group. I wish it was so we could be more prepared. We climbed Hood the year before and it was incredible to add the experience of going around Mt. Hood.
I also brought trail runners as my camp shoe to switch shoes once per day.
Its a beautiful trail and I am so glad I got to sneak a trip in before the rain started!
Building a strategy for the crossings was interesting. After a challenging late afternoon Eliot crossing we decided to camp an extra night so we could time our White crossing for the early morning.
